2015 was such a great year in the beauty industry and so far, we have learned a lot of tricks and hacks to up our beauty game. Another year ahead means a whole new set of goals. Since we make resolutions with the hope of improving ourselves for the best, our beauty regimens must also be upgraded. Most of the beauty blunders are caused by a lack of care and well, this is where beauty resolutions come in. We must all commit to actually follow through so we achieve the most gorgeous we have ever been! Now come on, isn’t that thought an incentive or what? Sounds trivial? Well, when we look good, we feel good and when we feel good, we do great! Let your inner self shine through! We have compiled the best beauty resolutions and why we think you should commit to it. Here’s the list:

1. Clean Your Brushes

“Brushes full of dirt and grime are not going to do your complexion any favors, and can clog pores and cause breakouts. Make a vow to regularly clean your brushes once a week to rid them of lingering bacteria; your skin will thank you.”

Why we agree: Stop being lazy! Multiplying bacteria means breakouts on skin! Period!

2. Double Cleanse your Face

via: Telegraph UK

Contrary to popular, somewhat cynical, belief, double cleansing isn’t just a gimmick to get us to buy twice the product but in fact what the dermatologists recommend. Why? The first cleanse will wipe of grime, bacteria and make-up (now so advanced that it takes a far more mighty cleanse to remove), the second cleanse removing any signs of make-up remover, while softening skin and deep cleaning pores.”

Why we agree: Always removing makeup and grime before hitting the sack is good! But what’s great is doing a double cleanse. This may sound a bit over the top but making sure your face is clean and free of makeup remover residue and other grime will make your skin breathe. This also minimises the chances of breaking out!

3. Ditch Old Makeup

“As a beauty aficionada myself, I know how hard it can be to part with your limited edition MAC lipstick from 2011. It makes for great #TBT pics, ya know? Even the prettiest of colors aren’t made forever, so it’s important to ditch products that are expired. Believe it or not, makeup has a shelf life.”

Why we agree: Old makeup is full of bacteria and will not function as well as it it used to. Be kind to your skin by being aware of how long you must keep your makeup. Take note that mascaras are to be kept in your beauty arsenal strictly just for 3 months. Stock up on new tubes of Bella Eleganze’s The Lash to keep your lash game strong.

4. Ditch Your Vices

via: Real Buzz

“Many of us spend a fortune on expensive beauty products to help keep our skin youthful and glowing. However, the most effective way to improve your appearance could be by making lifestyle changes. We all know that smoking causes premature ageing, but alcohol, sugar, salty food and late nights can also take their toll on your appearance. In fact, sugar consumption is up there with sun exposure and smoking when it comes to the major causes of wrinkles. Try cutting out – or cutting down on – your biggest vice and see what a difference it makes to your looks.”

Why we agree: This beauty resolution is a heavy one but truly one of the most important ones on the list. The truth is, it’s in our bad habits that make our overall health and beauty goals fail. So make a list of the vices you want to ditch. This could be smoking, drinking too much alcohol or eating too much refined carbs. You know yourself best. Be honest and commit to a lasting change. Good luck!

5. Have fun. Be bold. Take risks.

via: Sugar Laws

“This year, I want to take more beauty risks, whether it’s a bold, bright lip color, a pop of coral on my cheeks, or even a new haircut. Beauty isn’t about just going through the motions — beauty is meant to be fun. This year, I’m going to focus on remembering that and having fun with my routine again.”

Why we agree: Indeed, life is too short and sometimes the best looks come from impromptu experimentations. If you have been eyeing a crazy eyeliner style or a short do, go for it! Don’t be boring! Always have fun and don’t take things too seriously. If you mess up, then another makeover can fix it right away. Be brave!
